We're thrilled you're considering contributing to our magazine. Please follow these guidelines to ensure your submission meets our requirements.

Word Count and Language:

  • Length: Submissions should be concise, with a strict word limit of 200 words per page.

  • Language: All submissions must be in Australian English. Please pay close attention to spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Document Formatting:

  • File Types: We accept submissions in .docx or .rtf formats for written content. Ensure your document is properly formatted and editable.

  • Images and Graphics: For images and graphics, please provide files in .pdf or TIFF format to preserve quality.

  • Resolution and Colour: Images must be 300 DPI and in CMYK colour mode, suitable for high-quality printing.

Submission Process:

  1. Prepare Your Work: Ensure your submission follows our guidelines on word count, language, and document formatting.

  2. Review: Double-check your work for any spelling or grammatical errors. Make sure images are correctly formatted and of high quality.

  3. Submit: Once your piece is ready, email your submission to our editorial team via empiretimes@flinders.edu.au or the submission form. Include your name, pronouns, contact information, and FAN.

Review and Notification:

  • Our editorial team will review submissions and notify regarding acceptance.
    Due to the volume of submissions, feedback on individual pieces may not be provided.

  • We will only consider unpublished work.

  • If you are pitching, please include examples of your previous work.

  • We are happy to receive cold submissions.
